One of the industry's most anticipated releases every year also happens to be one of the easiest for collectors to understand - First Year Players have a blue border design, prospects (who have already appeared on the card) are green and veterans are red.

The box touts one Autographed First Year card per 18-pack box, and we hit that. . .plus a whole lot more including an autographed Andy LaRoche Blue Refractor Autograph, a good-luck-finding-one-of-these-babies Alex Rodriguez autograph and a 1 of 1 David Shepard Black Printing Plate along with various refractors including two First Year Refractors (Danny Core, Raul Tablado) and a First Year Blue Refractor (Jose Vaquedano).

Topps is digging a little deeper into past drafts, using many players who were selected in the lower middle-rounds. That doesn't mean these are not some of the better prospects, it just means that - with Bowman Draft using much of the first round names - players from the 11th, 12th, 16th, 17th and 23rd rounds of previous drafts make their Bowman debuts. Our box also contained four players taken in the second round of recent drafts, too, so the mix is solid.

And of course, Justin Verlander (first-round pick of the Detroit Tigers in 2004), Philip Humber (Mets' first-round pick in '04) and Jeff Niemann (Devil Rays' first-round pick in '04) are also in the set after signing with their teams too late last year to make the Bowman Draft checklist.
