A Boss Kut Die Cutting Machine Review

The Boss Kut Machine has been around since 2005. It is very easy to use, working with a lever system and cuts 3” wide and up to 12” long.

Its MSRP is $129.99 making it one of the more expensive machines on the market. It is not yet sold in high street crafting stores such as Michaels and AC Moore so to get a deal involves searching through internet stores. It generally comes with free S&H within the USA.

The machine comes with detailed instructions on die and mat placement which come in very handy and must be followed for the best results. There are no additional mats or adapters so it is very easy to take it out the box and start to play.

The machine weighs around 10lb making it portable but more importantly very sturdy so it is prevented from moving when you cut.

The Boss Kut is designed for use with chemically etched dies like Quickutz and it does cut the QuicKutz 2x2 perfectly. The design of the Boss Kut allows you to move the cutting mat back and forth underneath the cutting area, so you can you can cut longer dies by moving the cutting mat as you cut the entire image.

The Boss Kut dies come in an array of sizes from 1.5x1.5 through to 3x4 and are very affordable starting at $3.99 and going to $19.50 for a 2 step large die. The alphabets are a steal ranging from as little as $30.00 to just over $200.00. There are over 300 dies to choose from and it is claimed that the dies will cut through card stock, adhesive back vellums, metal papers, cork, foam, felt, some fabrics. Although in trial we had to press the lever twice to get a good cut on thicker card stock and felt. The felt was hit and miss with the dies; the larger less complicated dies were the best at cutting felt.

The dies come with foam already attached and a picture of the die cut on the front that really does take the guess work out of what you are cutting!
Boss Kut do not have any embossing folders as yet but they have a great range of popular expressions available such as Happy, Birthday, Boy, Girl to name a few.
