Wiccansoft myBOS "Software Database"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now first off I do not like talking poorly about anyone or really
anything for that matter. But I have come across a software program
that is not worth two pennys and I have found others who feel the
same way.

I purchased a software called myBOS similar to Doug Lawsons original
EBOS software database. This myBOS was on ebay and it was described
as having a "wealth of information" inside of it and that it was
a "true database system" and that you were able to print from this
program. I purchased this program for $12.95 thinking that it might
have some good information in it and to compare it to the EBOS
software that I have been using that Doug Lawson created.

Well when I first downloaded the program my mcafee warned me that it
had a Trojan in it so I stopped the download immediately.

I thought that maybe I had done something wrong so I tried to
redownload it from the link with the user name and password the
seller gave me and it downloaded fine. Then I opened the program
up... and I am not a novice computer user so I knew to store it in my
program files.

It opened fine, on the front page of it it has this huge copyright
and creator listing... which was fine, I understand that you have to
copyright your own material. I would have liked to been able to
customize it myself the way I could on Dougs through HTML but that
was fine.

So i go to this "wealth of information inside" this "database" and
there are only a few sections with less than basic information in it.
So then I thought well... maybe its just meant to just store my own
Spells, Rituals, and Recipes etc. So I do exactly as the directions
say and I type in a few things save it as it says to..... I reopen it
to make sure it saved it and NOPE nothing was saved.

I then tried to create a shortcut to my desktop for easy acsess and
it would not let me do it I tried 6 times all the ways I knew how to
even used help on my dell computer.

I did this more than several times... the program doesnt save.

So then I tried to print off the basic info they did have stored in
it and it wouldnt print. So I thought wow this is great.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled and did the whole thing over again.

Did a virus scan no virus' or trojans.

Then I go back to read the sellers email... and I saw at the bottom a
note to join the myBOS Yahoo Group Forum for people who have problems
with the program.


I thought to myself my goddess if you have that many problems with a
program that you have to have a full forum for it then why on earth
sell it!!

So I make a post listing all the problems and state that I have
another EBOS database program that hasnt done this to me before so I
know how to use a database similar to the myBOS and that the myBOS
was just not working for me.

I go back to the forum and my messages had been deleted instead of
answered.

Two days later the seller I purchased it from wrote me and email
wanting to know what problems it was that i was having with the
myBOS. I told her the problems I was having and she said that the
program was still in its "infancy" and still needed "tweeking". I was
polite to her and I told her that I wouldnt leave her negative
feedback but that the software should really be fixed before selling
it to others again, and that I had completely removed it from my
computer because it takes up a crap load ton of space.

I am not going to leave her negative feedback but I do want you all
to be aware of anything labeled "WiccanSoft" or "myBOS"
