Hi, the purpose of this guide is to answer and explain the most common questions I receive when I have a pair of blue diamond stud earrings listed.  Some of the questions might seem a little odd but when you're going to spend about $100 for a pair of earrings it's worth asking the questions.

Q.  Are the diamonds real?
A.  Most sellers sell the same items and yes, they are real.  However, it's always best to ask because there is always going to be someone that is going to try to sell imitation diamonds in the midst of all the naturals.

Q.  Are they genuine blue diamonds?
A.  From most sellers, no.  They are not 100% natural mined from the earth blue diamonds.  Unless the seller says they are 100% mined blue diamonds then no they are color enhanced.

Q.  How are the diamonds color enhanced?
A.  Although some companies are very secretive about their enhancement procedures the two most common are by irridation and High Pressure High Temperature(HPHT) or a combination of both.

Q.  What is the exact shade of blue of the diamonds?
A.   It's a good question to ask because the color enhancement turns the
diamonds into many different shades of blue and it's best to know the exact shade of blue you are bidding on or to request some actual pictures of the earrings.

Q.  What's exactly the carat weight?
A.  When a diamond pair of earrings are listed as an example, 1 carat, there's always some uncertainty of the carat weight.  The carat weight in the listing is the total carat weight of both diamond earrings together, not each earring.

Q.  Is the earring backing solid gold?
A.  There is several guides on this subject, about how some are just solid gold on the stick that goes in your ear or filled gold.  It's probably best to ask the seller, but most of the time the entire backing will be solid gold.  If the entire backing is solid gold the stamp will be on the back of the setting not the stick.

Q.  What's the width or each earring?
A.  It's always best to find out the measurements of the earrings you are bidding on.  The measurements will vary slightly for the same carat weight depending on how the diamond was cut, but should be basically the same.  For example, most half carat blue diamond studs are 4mm wide.

I hope this guide will be helpful when shopping for blue diamond studs.  They are very beautiful and because of the color enhancement techniques colored diamonds are more affordable than ever.  Thanks so much for looking and reading this guide, I hope it helps.  Thanks and have a good day!!!
