Blu Ray movies are now more and more common place and the price on Blu-Ray players are coming down so that more and more people can afford them. Most Blu-Ray players have the ability to play regular DVD’s at a better quality then a regular DVD player. It’s called dup-converting. Now if your player has this option then it might not be necessary to pay the price or get the movie in blu-ray if you already have it in DVD format. I would suggest that you try a regular DVD first and see, this way you can have the HD effect without the HD price.

Once you decided to buy the movie on Blu-Ray its time to do you home work. Check the local price at places like Best Buy and Wal-Mart before jumping into a bid that might end up costing you more then you could get it if you want down the street.  I have seen a few examples where the same movie was being sold used for a price 5-8 dollars above what it would cost new at the shore. Some are even more overpriced.  The other thing to remember is the shipping cost. 2 to 4 dollars is a common price and most fair to pay for shipping 1 movie and most buys are pretty good about combining shipping. Look for that as a way to save money and a way for you to buy more from that seller.  It’s a win win for all. There are some that go overboard charging 8 to 10 dollars to ship a movie that takes over a week to receive, That is most likely a seller trying to pad his bottom line. I would avoid them if I were you.

If you are looking at buying a used movie then be sure to read the entire description.
A lot of times you can save a lot of money to buy used from a reputable seller. Sometime you might not get the paper sleeve or the blu-ray case but you just save 10 to 15 dollars off the retail price.

Most of the good seller will give you all the information you need to know but if you have a question, don’t be afraid to ask them. You would ask a g person at the counter so do the same here on ebay.
Some of the questions you want to know are :

Is this movie an original copy?
You should never buy burnt or copied movies, make sure the recording is authentic.

Is the movie playable and what is the condition?
You don’t wants to buy your favorite movie only to get it and see it and it looks like someone took sandpaper too it.

Is the movie compatible with my DVD player?
The region code of your DVD must match the region code of your DVD player to insure they work on your device. Make sure the movies are compatible with your specific location. This should always be listed, if not ask. Or you might have just end up buying a coaster for your drinks.

Is this item in the correct recorded format?
There are 2 major and 1 left over formats out there. Blue-Ray and DVD are the most common. Make sure what you are bidding on and what you have for players,  HD-DVDs are still out there and if you have a HD-DVD plays you can score some pretty good deals.

Make sure that you are also buying a legitimate Blu-ray movie. Check a seller’s feedback. You take a chance with a new seller and a low price movie. The good thing is that most of the time if your using paypal you have recourse but it takes time. So again do your research and protect yourself.

I hope that is guide helps you out, if it does please click on the yes box. Also if you have any question feel free to ask. I’m a huge movie collector with well over 10,000 DVD’s and 200-300 blu-ray movies, ½ of which came off Ebay.  Good luck and happing bidding.
