It's overwhelming deciding which Blackberry Curve to buy, particularly with all the model numbers and carriers/branding in the market. I had to do some research before I could get mine! I thought this info would be helpful for new buyers and save you some time!
First things first, I think the Curve is the best Blackberry in the market so far (except if you're a fan of the Pearl). It is very well designed and fits well in your palm making typing a breeze. Apple and Palm got nothing on Blackberry when it comes to the ease of typing on these Curves! Pros and cons - well, here goes:
Blackberry 8300 Curve - base model. Launched initially exclusively with AT&T, but is now available through T-Mobile as well. Silver is the only color available (as far as I know). Comes with a 2-mp camera. Only downside of this model is that it doesn't come with Wi-Fi, GPS, or 3G support. Other than that, it's great if you're just looking for a phone with email capability.
Blackberry 8310 Curve - Launched exclusively through AT&T. Colors - Titanium and Crimson. Only improvement over the 8300 is the GPS, but it does not include Wi-Fi or 3G support.
Blackberry 8320 Curve - My personal favorite, and perhaps the bestselling model among the three. Launched exclusively through T-Mobile. Colors - Titanium and Pale Gold. Includes Wi-Fi that works with T-Mobile's HotSpot@Home service so you can make calls via Wi-Fi (save on your calling plan minutes!). Cons - no GPS or 3G support.
What to look for when buying one of these from a seller:
1. The item should come in original box with user manual and getting started CD. Ebay sellers selling these in OEM box or without box are almost always selling refurbished units claiming them to be new. The refurbished ones go for a little less and you will probably not have trouble with them, but be sure to check seller feedback so that he/she can offer service for a certain period after purchase (refurbs don't come with factory warranty).
2. The phone and the box should have the carrier's branding on them. RIM does not sell these otherwise in the US.
