Hello,
I hope this helps some of you folks out there trying to decide on which Satellite signal meter to find. As a Starband satellite internet installer in a remote region of Alaska, I was looking for a reliable competent meter. The last thing an installer needs when at a remote location hundreds of miles from any store, is a lousy signal meter.
The first meter I purchased was a Digisat. I was not happy with the meter. My experience was that it is a flakey, unreliable meter. Signal readings would fluctuate wildly and I never did like the 'feel' of the meter. I finally had to take it apart and resolder connections on the circuit board! I no longer have the meter.
Next I purchased a Channel Master 1006. This was a nice solid feeling meter. I was happy with the quality and the meter performed very well for me. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for though. While a good meter it still could only tell me I was on a satellite, not which satellite!
I finally stumbled on the Birdog meter, version 2.5. Now this is a piece of quality workmanship ! The Birdog has been absolutely indispensable for remote installs. The meter has the everything you need to peak the performance of a satellite TV/Internet system. This meter will let you know WHAT satellite you are on and allows you to peak the dish to that specific transponder! NO more hunting around. The internal software is upgradeable as new satellites/transponders come on line or change. While the Birdog is a high-end meter, you will not go wrong by purchasing.
Good Luck !
