I would just like to further touch on the great anti-spiritual act of claiming to bind the spirit of a deceased pet to a piece of jewelry. As a student of metaphysics and spirituality as well as an animal rights activist, this is an issue that is especially frustrating. Are animals not exploited enough in this world? They are slaughtered to become food, used for entertainment, and looked down upon as less than mankind. Now we have people claiming to bind the spirit of a deceased pet to an item. This is not a matter of faith or religion, since the binding of animal spirits has no basis in any religion or metaphysical practice. It is a completely fabricated practice which has no basis in reality It was created with the sole purpose of exploiting people who have lost their beloved animal companions. The fact that I am pointing this out does not mean that I'm criticizing the beliefs of others. I am criticizing a heinous and deplorable act. It simply has no historical basis in religion or magical workings. It is absolutely heartbreaking that greed has led some people to offer such a service. Animals are so exploited in this world. To think that someone would have the nerve to claim to actually bind their spirit into servitude after their death is a heartbreaking testament to absence of respect for life. Doubly so that those being targeted are grieving pet owners. Why stop there? Why not offer a service to bind the spirit of your deceased relatives to a piece of jewelry? Does that cross the line somehow? If it does cross the line, then why is it OK to exploit animals in this way? Short answer: No respect.
I received an e-mail a few months ago from someone who claims to offer this service. They asked me what the big deal was, if they were offering some solace and comfort to someone, then what harm were they doing. My answer to this is that to lie in the name of spirituality while making false claims regarding someone's beloved pet who has crossed over is not only a reprehensible moral act but is also an extremely negative karmic act. If the sellers sole intentions are to offer solace and comfort to someone who is grieving the loss of a pet, then why not offer them something real like a donation made to the ASPCA in their pets name or send them a token of sympathy. What purpose does it serve to lie and trap the grieving pet owner into a false mindset where they now believe that there pet is living inside of a piece of jewelry. Not only is it ridiculous, but it is a crime against spirit. When an animal spirit leaves this world it can visit its former family on its own. Many who have lost pets can attest to the fact that their pets have visited them after death. We form bonds with our animal friends that remain even after death. It is not necessary to bind the spirit to anything, not only is it not necessary but it is magically impossible. Ask yourself even if it were possible to bind the soul of your pet to a piece of jewelry, then who does this benefit? I understand the love that guardians have for their pets, but there is a fine line between love and the sort of innocent-greed that can arise from it. If we truly love our animal companions, we will want them to move free into the next dimension... we would not want to enslave them within a piece of meaningless jewelry. Grief can make people do things that they would normally would not do, and it is a shame that these so called "spiritual" sellers would prey on people in such a vulnerable and desperate position.
As I have said before animals have free will and they will visit us on their own when they cross over to the other side. Those who claim to bind them into a life of servitude in order to turn a profit by swindling grieving pet owners of their money are the lowest forms of metaphysical sellers in my opinion. I actually talked with representatives of the ASPCA about this issue, and they find it reprehensible. I urge anyone who is reading this who is an animal lover to contact both the ASPCA and PETA regarding these merchants. Although this doesn't fall under the heading of an animal rights violation or animal cruelty, there are many animal lovers and supporters of animal rights who are outraged over this. The fact that even the spirits of animals are being exploited after death is a horrible signpost as to where our culture is headed. These groups have also said that if they get enough feedback from the public regarding these merchants and their experiences with these merchants, they will have the means necessary to bring it into public attention.
