I liked it… simply put. It had the potential to be a four star film filled with romance, adventure, thrills and chills, but it kinda’ fell short on that. I loved the whole original idea for the film base. It was one of those types of movies where I was thinking “Man… why didn’t I think of this,” the whole time I was watching it.

The romance, obviously being the key trigger in this film, on how Ewan McGregor was so infatuated with his new found love that he went to great ends and quite literally throughout the world to find her and marry her. That being one of the main subplots; fell a little short as well. In a romance, you want to feel for and love the characters, but this had more of a “fun” romance atmosphere, where you knew they were going to end up together so there was nothing to worry about, (This obviously was a given considering they were married at the present time during the movie, and all the stories were flashbacks.)

I would have liked to have seen a little more explanation at the ending where the world was finally opened to your eyes about what things were real and what weren’t. However, I can see why the director decided to leave most of that to the imagination… because that was the whole point about the movie… imagination.

The language was barely existent. I thought that maybe I had somehow been desensitized after reading a review saying they were upset about “all” the language. I’m not sure what they were watching, but you can literally count them on one hand. I confirmed this on a disclaimer site that pointed out each word during the movie. In fact that was one of the reasons I liked this movie so much, the language was down to less than a tenth of what a normal PG-13 movie would present, and the moral of the movie was wonderful, considering that everyone in the movie was married, and not just boyfriend/girlfriend, etc.

However… name me one person in the world who would have liked to have seen Danny DeVitto’s bare backside? They could have easily shown him from the waist up from behind, and that would have been plenty. Same with the girl in the lake. They just HAD to show a little of the rump in the back to make it known, which is obviously not true. If they wanted to give a sense that she was nude, they again just had to show from the waste up. It would be obvious that she was nude.

With the exception to those two or three shots of rear-ends planted in a couple spots in the film, I thought the film was great. I really enjoyed it. It could have been much, much better, and I would be the first to admit that. But it still delivered a good message, and made me glad that I had seen it.
