Sure, there are many people that are addicted to Ebay, it is an easy thing to do. People don't even have to go to a store and mess with finding the parking spot, rushing through the crowds, and not getting more price options than you would on bidding sites cause people to rush to their computer seats and log on to this grand site called Ebay. It is an easy thing to search for various items without even getting out of your seat. Ebay is the world's biggest yard sale.
However, some people develope so much pride that it attacks their common sense, which leads them to over bid for products that they could get at a retail store for much less. This statement goes especially for the electronics
section. The concept of Ebay used to be where people would bid for items at rock bottom/bargain prices. We would pay small action prices and be proud that we got something for a song/steal. That is no longer the case. Ebay is the 'top dog' of bidding sites and the stores that sell their stuff know this. They are only out to make a buck when they cast out their lines and they end up getting a fat wad of cash when they hook you with the words "RARE, VINTAGE, and NO RESERVE." These words are always capitalized to get the bidder's mind racing with the idea of holding the rare, vintage thing in their hands. You are not the only one to feel this rush of shopper's adrenaline. All bidders have felt it at one point or another.
This is where common sense goes out of the proverbial window. People start bidding wars, even when the item is broken and can't be fixed, and they are hugnry to win that item. Soon, too many people are fighting for this auction and pride starts to kick in and pretty soon you are the proud winner of something possibly broken, overpriced, or fraudulent. Now, you must be thinking, 'but this is the only way.' Good news, it isn't. There many retail stores that have websites that you can check for prices. You can get a good idea of how much the item is going for, if it is still made, you can get accurate specifications, and you can even calculate how much you are willing to spend if you decide to go to a bidding site. Such places are Wal-mart, Circuit City, K-MART, Target, and Best Buy.
Now, for things that aren't made anymore like records, toys, etc. there isn't a good way to find precious items except for this site. So, feel free to bid until your fingers bleed. But, don't make the price outrageous for yourself or others. Bring back the true meaning of this site. It is frustrating to see people so willing to throw their money away.
