This guide is to inform ebayers about some of the scams that my brother and I have come across while searching for video games on ebay.

First of all, Read every detail about the auction you are looking at and ASK questions on even the littleist things that don't make sense to you!!!

My younger bro came across an auction that said something to the effect of 'huge ps2 lot, ps2 with 40'. After contacting the seller, a response was left for my bro after the auction ended stating that only the games you saw on the very top were actual games!!! Thats right only the one's on the very top, that means that the other 36-37 games were actually pirated, copied, cd-r, whatever ya wanna call em.

I on the other hand fell into some scams of some sellers, for instance, I won a FF VII game (which showed a pic of the original and never stated that it was a greatest hits version) I got the greatest hits version, fortunely paypal was able to get me my money back. Also there was the time about a month ago I did a BIN for a Marvel vs Capcom 2 for $35.00, which is dirt cheap for the game. The seller was kind enough to tell me that the shipment he recieved was a bunch of pirated copies and refunded my money. Listed below are some rules I think should be followed before bidding on an item:

   1. Always READ everything about the auction you are looking at.

2. Allways ask questions about that auction.

3. Check surrounding auctions and see what the selling price is on those.

4. If you see the words: New, iz, boxed, box comes with, Always, Always, ALWAYS, ask if everything is included and be specific.

5. If auction says 'still in plastic' ask if the item is factory sealed or if the auction is sealed in some kind of other plastic, there is a big difference between sealed in plastic and factory sealed.

6. Ask for pictures of the item you are bidding on if pics aren't available, and ask seller for a detalied discription of item if the discription in the auction is way to short (i.e. game works fine, thanks for bidding)

7. Last one, check those shipping prices, chances are you are getting ripped off for shipping, (i.e. if your package is $1.88 to ship, charging $4-5 is reasonable if you have to use a couple of gallons of gas (as I do) to get the the post office and get stamps to mail it off, not $7-10). People will try to rip you off  so be Wachfull!
