The Vintage 71/2-8 inch hard palstic doll has become a popular item in the doll world. Most people collecting want the old 1940s or 1950s dolls. there seems to be an asumtion that they were only made in those eras. This is not true. There are hard plastic dolls that resemble the old dolls in the same hair style and immovable legs etc being sold in sunshine craft cataloge. the older dolls where actually made and sold in Woolworths 5 and 10 cent store up untill the 1980s when it closed.
Different charactoristics about the dolls are indicatores about their age. Many of these are the same as with other colector dolls.
The older doll has a much greyer color to the plastic, Signs of age must hair matted mohair wig. the older doll often had stapled on clothing. Look at the clothing are the fabrics right for the age. And being an extention of the older compo doll were smalleer and thiker built.
Newer dolls have thiner bodies, more modern faces and may not even have mohair wigs.
I am not saying that people are intending to sell the new dolls as vintage but the simularity and lack of knowlge may be on both sides.
