This guide is for those who plan on or have purchased a DAOC account from someone!

Be careful! There are tons of scammers out there trying to get rich quick or just make a buck by taking advantage of the trusting!

I have personally been victimized by one of these people when I purchased a DAOC account with some really nice characters and the sellers' guarantee that the ever so important SECRET WORD was included thus was not, he called and had the password reset 2 days after I paid him via Paypal and there was nothing I could do but begin the long dispute process luckily offered by Paypal! 

DO NOT TRUST THE SCAMMERS! Feedback is so very important to take into consideration before purchasing anything! If they have even 1 negative feedback and swear up and down to you that it was all a misunderstanding and shouldn't even be there, think very hard before you bye anything from them!

Aside from that bit of advice, this guide will tell you the correct way to purchase a Dark Age Of Camelot account on Ebay or any other place, so if the person tells you they have the secret word but never delivers it or if the seller is sincere and just lost or forgot it. And you should know that the secret word is EVERYTHING to Mythic! You cannot get any form of help, including password retrieval if you lose it or the seller/scammer resets it on you after you've already paid them!

If you were given the SW, call Mythic to verify it and change it to one of your own!

The DAOC EULA is very informative. But I understand that hardly anyone wants to sit there and read through it all, myself included =) So I decided to put the important part for buyer protection here! Read Below:

You must notify Mythic, via electronic mail to "transfersatdarkageofcamelotdotcom", not later than three (3) days after concluding the sale that you have transferred the Account, including in your notice the following: your true name and current mailing and e-mail address, login name and player name associated with the Account; the true name and current mailing and e-mail addresses of the transferor (you) and the transferee, and the following statement:
"I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT, ON [INSERT DATE OF TRANSFER] I TRANSFERRED ALL MY RIGHTS TO ACCESS AND USE THE DAOC ACCOUNT IDENTIFIED ABOVE, TO THE PERSON IDENTIFIED ABOVE, AND THAT SUCH TRANSFER COMPLIES WITH ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS GOVERNING ACCOUNT RIGHTS TRANSFERS, AS SET FORTH IN THE CURRENT VERSION OF THE DARK AGE OF CAMELOT(TM) END USER ACCESS AND LICENSE AGREEMENT, WHICH I FURTHER CERTIFY I HAVE READ AND DELIVERED TO THE TRANSFEREE."
The subject field of the e-mail must contain only the name of the account that is being transferred. Mythic Entertainment assumes no obligation or responsibility for any misspelling or typographical errors on your part.

 With that, you should always ask the seller that they FORWARD, not copy & paste, you a copy of that which they sent to Mythic! Once they have that little snippet, the account is yours clean and clear even if the original secret word was "lost" ect.

You're probably thinking thats alot to do just to buy an incredible, too good to be true, uber account with 9 ML10 level 50 characters that I am paying ONLY $250.00 for!

 Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck? Guess what? Its probably a duck! See my point? Do you honestly have a couple hundred bucks laying around the house that you can afford to lose if the seller turns out to be a scammer? I know I don't!

I hope this helps some of you out there! If I had known it before I was scammed, it never would have happened!
