Everybody likes to get something on sale or at least a good deal on whatever they are buying. But when shopping for items on Ebay you must do some homework if you don`t want to get taken. Over 40% of the items listed on Ebay are Counterfeit.... The first step is to know what you are buying. One of the largest Counterfeit Ebay markets is on cell phone accessories so lets use this area as an example. Say you are looking to get yourself a car charger for your new Motorola cell phone. Verizon, AT&T, and all of the cellular dealers sell these items for $19.99-$29.99 in their stores. But you figure before you pay full retail at the store, you will go home and see what you can find on Ebay. You type in your Ebay search "Motorola OEM car charger", and you see hundreds of them starting at only 1 cent..... (This is where low cost overides the brians ability to think clearly.) But before you push that buy-it-now button Think...... Is are all of my local cellular stores items just over priced? Did this Ebay seller get a deal from Motorola and is just passing the saving on to Ebay shoppers. The answer to both of these questions is NO. The reason you are getting what you think is a OEM product for pennies on the dollar is not because of any closeouts, bulk purchase, or any other reason that the seller may try and get you to believe.....The fact is what you are looking at is a Counterfeit item. Now is when it comes time to do your homework. Before you buy know what you are buying....Do some research. This is very simple via the internet and a simple five minutes of searching can save you from being taken. Most manufactures have links on thier websites or customer service numbers that can help you avoid Counterfeit items. Some of the other high Counterfeit markets on Ebay are Electronics (Telephones, Ipods, Computers, Etc.) Clothing & Shoes (Tommy, Polo, Nike, Corcs & other name brand Clothing & Shoes) Womens Hand Bags, Toys, and so on I could type for days listing them all. Another way to spot Counterfeit items is to look where they are comming from. (Sellers location China, Hong Kong, and even the port cities here in the USA NY. , CA. are all hot spots for Counterfeit items. You will also see alot of items list as bulk packaged. This is another clue...... Manufactures do not bulk package retail items in this manner. Another area where people are getting taken on Ebay is for Refurbished & Opened Box items that sellers are trying to pass off as new. This is why I can not stress enough to do your homework before you buy & remember what you daddy always told you....
