I've had my share of experience with buying a vehicle on ebay. I bought a 1973 Vw Dune Buggy off ebay from a seller (the_eye_in_the_sky_is_upon_you, no longer a memeber) who claimed the car was in almost perfect condition as shown by his description of the vehicle as he said the buyer could come and drive it home. I bought it and had a friend of mine who worked for a transportation company bring it.
When I got it, there were huge problems with it brakes didnt work(had to be pumped around 6 times), tranny popped out of gear, the battery was dead, there were numerous body cracks  all in which the seller never mentioned in the auction, he simply stated that there was nothing wrong with it. I had a mechanic look at it and he gave me a whole list of things that were wrong with the vehicle... I called the seller who never answered my phone calls so I filled a claim with ebay who "promised" to give me $175... I bought the vehicle for 5K and it would cost another 5K to fix all the problems it has.
Be VERY CAREFUL when buying on ebay, all the risk is placed on the buyer, remember ebay covers the buyer up to $200 for ANY transaction(even if you bought a 500K Ferrari) and then the buyer must meet a list of requirements to get that $200.
