I'm writing this for any owners of a Bestway Lay-Z-Spa

The spa is an inflatable hot tub and pump. they are a seriously cheap way of getting all the benefits of a fully functional hot tub at a FRACTION of the price typically £200 - £300
They are truly fantastic items and I would give the product a rating as follows

ITEM  10/10 - Its a 2 to 3 grand quality hot tub for a tenth of the price
INNOVATION 10/10 brilliant idea and purpose designed - worthy of a design award
QUALITY 8/10 good enough
RELIABILITY 2/10 They are seriously unreliable in my experience now on 4th pump (they pump is covered for 12 months warranty)
THE HEATER IS THE WEAK PART OF THE PUMP AND THEY GO FREQUENTLY
CUSTOMER SERVICE 2/10 unhelpful arsey with a crappy attitude
COST - AAAARRRGGGHHHH adds hundreds to your Lekky bill !!!! (BE PREPARED - OPEN BILL WHEN SITTING DOWN!!!!)

Right this is NOT a guide on the item itself this IS a guide to dealing with the grumpy sods in customer service. because your PUMP WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BREAK DOWN.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Customer service are quite happy to lie and tell you things that are simply not true , about the pump and your MISUSE of the pump , they will ask you to do strange things like take it in the house for a lay down , and backwashing the pump and checking seals you know are perfectly OK , whilst simultaneously implying that you are  misusing the pump and have not read the instructions. they ask leading questions about misuse and look for you to say something so they can refuse a warranty claim for a repair or replacement. BE WARNED.
The thing is that they seriously UNABLE to predict or stock parts for replacement repair or purchase, and they aften run out of pumps etc for weeks until the boat comes in from china. VERY POOR
The instructions have a coverall statement in them which says "do not use the pump continuously " but it offers no advice on how to use the spa - and bestway have not cleared up the usage issue - so come on bestway prey tell us, because if you turn it OFF it goes stone cold in 24 to 48 hours then takes 24+ hours to re heat???   come on give a clue 1 day in seven??? 2 months of the year with a days rest for a cup of tea on a Wednesday??
ANYWAY

Things NOT TO ACCEPT FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE

1) YOU MUST RETURN THE PUMP AT YOUR EXPENSE - UNTRUE
You can just post the pump lid for about £1.10 - the cost can be reclaimed via the person you bought it of (if they are a trader)
2) WE ARE OUT OF STOCK
sadly true due to lack of foresight , BUT if it takes em 2 weeks to replace it then ask for emailed or written confirmation that they will EXTEND YOUR WARRANTY by the persiod you have been without it
3) SALE OF GOODS ACT
If bought from a shop or a trader - on ebay or anywhere else the sale of goods act applies so you can claim back postage costs via them and if you have enough and want a refund then your CONTRACT IS WITH THE RETAILER so it is them that you must ask- if they refuse you can take out small claims court action against them - to get a replacement or a refund. use the retailer to put pressure on Bestways customer service.
3) After the 12 month warranty - a product - even if out of warranty must give reasonable service and life that you would expect from such an item - this can be up to 6 years - so don't be fobbed off, give em 30 days to repair or replace then issue a small claims action- you will win.

So there we have some great reasons not to be treated like CRAP by Bestway Customer Service UK
I think they sometimes forget that if it were not for us the customer they would be out of business, so lets remind them who's boss.
