The existing medical data shows that modern Lasers will provide a scarless removal in most clients. Several treatments( 4-6 ) are required about every 4-6 weeks. The dyes are broken by the laser into smaller pieces that your blood cells can eat. It is very helpfull if you avoid taning tattoos prior to laser treatment. Black and red inks are usually the fastest to remove Dark greens , yellow and flesh (tan) colors may be more difficult. Tattoos placed closer to the heart are faster to remove than those placed on the foot or ankle.Be aware that in many cases permanate make up may not be removal by laser as these dyes are metallic and may darken with exposure to laser energy. Plastic based dyes may also be a special problem. Dont be fooled by non laser procedures as they have a high risk of scar formation and are often done in non medical setting. Ask about the doctors or technicians laser qualifications, experience and to see photos before and after of their patients . Our clinic has used a Versapulse Q-switched laser with great sucess over the past six years. More infomation is available from the FDA website.
