Ben Wallace - Ben Wallace Jersey & Bio
Ben Wallace, "Big Ben", center and power forward for the Detroit Pistons, is one of the most impressive defensive players in the NBA, maybe one of the best the league has ever seen. He has won NBA Defensive Player of the Year honors four times in his career, and his rebounding and shot blocking skills are almost unfailingly intimidating to opponents. However, born in Alabama on September 10, 1974, Wallace didn't have an easy time making it to the NBA.
It is said that as a teenager he demonstrated for Charles Oakley the tenacity that has marked his career in the NBA. At one of Oakley's summer camps, Oakley challenged Wallace to a little one-on-one. A mighty battle is said to have ensued, with Wallace and Oakley bloodying each other up. It was apparent right then that Wallace would never be a shooter, but that he would never be a quitter either.
After playing community college ball for a couple of years and then playing at Division II school Virginia Union, Wallace wasn't exactly a hot prospect for the NBA. In fact, he wasn't drafted and instead was a walk-on for the then Washington Bullets in 1996. After playing for Washington and Orlando, Wallace joined the Pistons in 2000.
Since then, this undrafted player has had the satisfaction of starting in the 2003 All-Star Game and of co-captaining the championship Piston team of 2004. The most popular jerseys for Wallace are authentic NBA jerseys from Reebok.
