I love this hobby.
In the past few years, the hobby has moved from a hobby / sport to a recreational activity.
There are many on line hobby stores such as Tower Hobbies on where to get information on how to start and what to buy.
Almost Ready to Fly (ARF) models have made the process of a building a radio control model airplane from plans or a kit almost something of the past and the ARF make the hobby much quicker to get flying.
To start flying radio control model airplanes, you have to start off with a good training airplane like the Sig Kadet LT 40 and the use of a computer simulator flight program such a Real Flight helps. You cannot learn to fly by yourself, the hand eye response is very unfamaliar to a beginner, thus if you try to fly by yourself, you will over control the airplane and crash the model in 30 seconds or less. Search the web for a r/c model airplane club in your area.
My site is at SportRC
