Generally, I like to use copper patina when I have used dark glasses in a piece because it sets off and separates the colors so perfectly. When waxed and polished, the copper seams will be so beautiful, they'll take your breath away...
There are times I would recommend not to use copper patina. If your panel is all clear glasses, the copper patina can diminish the crisp, clear elegance you worked so hard to achieve. I would personally recommend using black patina when working with clear glasses. It will separate and define each piece and really make it pop!
If cost is a factor, copper edgings have more then doubled in price in the last few years and are almost twice the price then the standard zinc edging. Don't forget to figure that into your price quote!
Finally, because of the natural oils in our hands, when we touch a panel or lampshade with copper patina, it will actually discolor the patina. Over time, the seams will turn brown. This is even more prevalent in humid areas. Not to worry! Simply re-wax it and it will shine like new!
