1) Arrive early! (Between 1 1/2 - 2 hours before your flight)
2) Grab some good food before you arrive and a bottle of water.
3) Pack Lightly (Dont bring 10 garments if you are only going to be gone for 2 days.)
4) Check everything you can (Dont think you will pass the security line, or get on board an aircraft with 10 pieces of luggage as carry-ons)
5) Be polite and SMILE with every airport personnal you come into contact with. (Remember, you are most likely traveling with your family or going to see them, while the workers at the airport or crew members on planes are apart from all their loved ones during the most important holidays of the year trying to get you to your loved ones!) Another note on that... a little of honey goes along way with these people. Keep the sourness, bitterness, attitudes, and just plain bad behaviours at home!
6) Take your jacket, jewelry, shoes, belts, hair pins, etc OFF before you pass thru the security line. It will save you alot of time, possible aggravation, and the lines will flow more quickly.
7) Be polite and smile at the Gate Agent when checking in. ( You might never know how that might benefit you in the long run!)
8) SMILE as you are boarding the aircraft. And when a crew member says Goodmorning or Hello to you....Be a decent human being by giving them a response, unless of course that is how you treat people in your life that walk into your home. In that case...rent a car or start walking to your destination. No one wants to be around a grump.
9) When stowing your luggage in the compartments overhead or under the seat in front of you...try to refrain from being completely RUDE by talking on your Cell phone and not letting those 200 PEOPLE behind you pass so that they can reach their seats and we can all leave on time. No one wants to hear your conversation about how important you are so just move along quickly and take your seat. And when they tell you to turn that phone or laptop off...TURN IT OFF. (I am sure they would rather take you with them than leave you behind at the gate for not following instructions!)
10) Take some reading material with you and pass it along after your done. If everyone shared their reading materials and stories with eachother this flight would go alot quicker and alot happier. Be kind to everyone you come in contact with! You never know, you just might be entertaining an angel for a few moments....
