Before you buy a Peg perego Viaggio Infant Car Seat, please be aware and informed of the past years saftey information recalls. The Peg Perego website provides information pertaining to these recalls along with instructions for repair and an 800# for questions/concerns regarding this particular infant car seat.

We all want our children to be safe so I feel it is important to add this guide as useful information to protect our children.

Peg Perego USA,Inc. announced July 19, 2001 and also on March 26, 2002 saftey information recall on the Viaggio Infant Car Seat. This is only for car seats manufactured during the date ranges listed above and for USA & Mexico only.  Production date can be found on the Date-Code label which is a white sticker located on the back of the car seat between the straps.

From the Peg Perego web site:

Announced July 19, 2001: For MFG Date Range Feb. 1, 2001 to June 10,2001 ONLY.

The latching mechanism on the left side ( from the baby's perspective) may not engage the latching rod ( in the base) completely in such a case, the seat will not be completely secured to the infant car seat base in the vehicle.

Announced March 26, 2002: MFG Date Range May 20, 2001 to Feb. 15, 2002 ONLY

Certain Peg Perego Viaggio Infant car seats produced from dates given above fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Saftey standards No. 213. This car seat was sold seperately with a base, or bundled with a stroller and sold as a travel system.

Car seat strap tension adjuster cover can cause strap slippage.

So if you have purchased a Viaggio Infant car seat or are planning on buying a used car seat, it is important to go to the Peg Perego web site, and read the safety information given and follow the instructions to get an inspection sheet and information on how to repair the infant car seat for safety purposes . You'll also find the 800#  to call for customer service.

Remember, Peg Perego provides consumers with inspection sheets and easy-to-read instructions.
