The Peg Perego website provides information pertaining to these recalls along with instructions for repair and an 800# for questions/concerns regarding this particular infant car seat.

Peg Perego USA,Inc. announced July 19, 2001 and also on March 26, 2002 saftey information recall on the Viaggio Infant Car Seat. This is only for car seats manufactured during the date ranges listed above and for USA & Mexico only. Production date can be found on the Date-Code label which is a white sticker located on the back of the car seat between the straps.

Announced July 19, 2001: For MFG Date Range Feb. 1, 2001 to June 10,2001 ONLY.
The latching mechanism on the left side ( from the baby's perspective) may not engage the latching rod ( in the base) completely in such a case, the seat will not be completely secured to the infant car seat base in the vehicle.
Announced March 26, 2002: MFG Date Range May 20, 2001 to Feb. 15, 2002 ONLY
Certain Peg Perego Viaggio Infant car seats produced from dates given above fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Saftey standards No. 213. This car seat was sold seperately with a base, or bundled with a stroller and sold as a travel system.
Car seat strap tension adjuster cover can cause strap slippage.
