Believe it or not, there are some eBay auctions that aren't going to save you any money. In fact, if you shop around a bit, you might be chagrined to discover that the same item on eBay is actually going for a HIGHER price than it is at other stores. Now, that's certainly not always the case, but it is worth doing some comparison shopping now and then to make sure you can't get a better deal elsewhere.
Particularly with boutique clothing with price tags of $50 or higher per item, I would strongly suggest you enter the name of the clothing item (or designer, or line) into a search engine and see what the going rate is at some of the individual Web boutiques. While the regular retail price might not be a better deal, if a store happens to be having a sale or clearance at the time, you could be fortunate enough to find the same item selling at 20-50% LOWER than the eBay price!
Kind of bursts that addictive eBay-is-the-world shopping bubble, doesn't it? Well, that's what some of those sellers are counting on - buyers who are more addicted to the process of bidding than they are to getting the best deal. These shoppers have been known to willingly raise their bids to whatever it takes to win the auction and beat out everybody else, even if they end up paying a premium on the item they originally thought they'd be getting at a great discount!
I know; I've been there. And that's just one of the many reasons I don't sell on eBay and chose instead to open my own Web-based store. No drama there. No, all you get at my store is a little shopping, a little saving, and a nice, calm, satisfying experience.
