Beer Darts - a Suburbian Drinking Game
On a breezy evening , with lots of beer and the barbeque brats settling in the stomach, an urge to “play a game” sweeps over the group. But what to do? Beer Darts quickly comes to mind, the host promptly pulls out two lawn chairs, and everyone gathers around.
An entertaining game for a range of ages - from college kids to grandparents - Beer Darts is a “lifetime” game that requires no other skill than throwing a dart and drinking fast.
Equipment needed:
cans of beer - several cases if a large group is playing, such as for a tournament - brand is according to each person’s taste
1 dart
1 set of “Beer Darts Can Holders”
"Beer Darts Can Holder"
Trophy (for tournament play)
How to Play:
Playing is simple. *Warning: Game will become more complicated after alcohol affects the brain.
Set the two lawn chairs facing each other on a flat area, approximately 9 feet apart. Chairs may be spaced farther apart, but that is up to the host’s discretion.
“Beer Darts Can Holders” are placed on the ground approximately 6 to 8 inches in front of each chair.
Place an open full can of beer into each holder. Note: An official Beer Darts Referee may inspect fullness and newness at any time.
Taking turns, players throw a dart at the other player’s can of beer. When the dart punctures the can, the receiving player must immediately remove the dart, place his finger over the hole and chug until the beer is below the level of the hole.
A player is out when 1. his can has been punctured 3 times or 2. a “kill” has been achieved. A player is instantly elimanted if he draws blood from another player.
“Kill” is when the dart punctures the bottom fourth of the can.
Coaching is allowed. A player already out of the game may coach another player still playing.
There are many throwing techniques. You may use your most comfortable position without moving your feet in front of the “beer can holder.”
You may choose also to “protect your jewels” while on the receiving end of the dart.
Players may argue with an official Beer Darts Ref at their own risk of being thrown out of the game.
Winners may or may not receive a trophy.
Please remember to allow only those who are of drinking age to participate with beer. Underage drinkers and designated drivers may use Mountain Dew or a comparable soda. Be responsible when playing this game, as this writer takes no responsibility for injuries that may arise from your actions as a player or a spectator.
