I have been selling on ebay since the year 2000. I have seen so many sellers who advertise their refurbished watches as brand new hoping to sell them at higher prices. They are actually so successful too! Because buyers only have three month to leave a feedback or file a paypal dispute. the watch works fine for the time being. It usually, however, start to malfunction after this time period. the reason is obvious . If some one else other than the manufacture fixes the watch, then the watch may not be a quality watch anymore.
It is not as easy as you think to distinguish between refurbished watches and the new ones. the following reasons may help you in finding a quality watch:
1- Manufacture of the brand name watches only sell their watches to their authorized retailer. So if the seller is not an authorized dealer, he obviously bought the watch from some one else other than directly from the manufacture. Even though the watch carries a warranty book, the warranty is not valid. If you want to send the watch to the company under the warranty, you will be asked for the name of the place you purchased it from. If you bought your time piece from some one who is not an authorized dealer, that simply voids your warranty.
2- some other sellers provide their own warranty cards which is usually for the period of one year. this also means that the watch is probably a refurbished one. since they bought the watch used and since they refurbished the watch themselves, they do not have any paperwork .
3- always look at the box and the bar code attached. It is easy to place a refurbished item inside another box. if the bar code says another model number or if there is no manufacture label on the box, the watch may also be refurbished.
