I have been selling Ebooks now for several years. I love books of all kinds but when I found ebooks, then I was hooked on them. I like working with them and I like reading them. I mostly treat them as a hobby. I have learned how to find the really good quality ebooks to sell. I have also learned how to avoid the ebooks that can cause you some problems, such as VERO on Ebay. Ebooks are great because once you list them on Ebay, then they are there from now on and you don't have to keep adding them over and over again. Quantity is definitely a plus though. When buyers see that you only have 50 or so, they don't take you as a serious seller and will usually hunt for a seller that looks a little more professional.
When I first started selling ebooks I was very impressed with powersellers and I wrote them and asked them questions, I bought ebooks from them and I found out when I first started that alot of the powersellers were in the UK, so I got a BIG education quickly when I latched on to powersellers. First, I began to get rather disappointed with alot of powersellers. I assumed that powersellers had all the answers but I quickly realised that they were selling ebooks that didn't have the resell rights that they advertised in their listings. Just remember, NEVER sell ebooks that do not have resell rights in WRITING with them. I would even write the powersellers and ask them if they had resell rights in writing and when I got the ebook, there were no resell rights with the product. I would specifically tell them that it was very important that the ebooks have the resell rights in writing and they would tell me they had resell rights with them. The one thing I also realised is, it is better to contact the author of the ebook and ask them if it is okay for you to sell their ebook and ask them if it is okay to sell it on Ebay also. Some authors do not allow their ebooks to be sold on Ebay. Most ebooks state in it where you can sell the ebook.
I really recommend that you sign up for a membership that sells the latest ebooks. You know that you are getting the latest ebooks. PLR are the best ebooks to buy because you can put your personal information on it and they can find your Ebay store. Also, signing up for affiliates allows you to put that on the PLR books and that allows you to make more money when someone purchases from the affiliate links you have posted in the PLR ebooks you sell. Alot of money can be made with affiliate sales. Educate yourself on affiliates. Read everything you can get your hands on.
Storing your Ebooks. Once you get the ebooks that you sell is complicated if you don't know what to do with them. There are really 3 ways to store them that I find the easiest way. First there is CD storage but I am always nervous about that because if the CD is damaged, the you lose your ebook. Secondly, you can buy a extra hard drive to attach to your computer which can be a little pricey but it is a very good way to store them and if your computer crashes, then you still have the ebooks on the hard drive. A 3rd way is great and that is to purchase digital storage on the internet and you can just grab your ebook off there when you need it and it is usually stored alphabetically, BUT one time I had a storage site and they crashed and lost ALL my ebooks. I had over 400 ebooks stored on it and I went nuts when I had to try to find the ebooks again and basically I just started all over again. No matter what you choose, just make sure you have back up. CD's are good back up and just hide them away and never use them in case of a emergency. In other words, all of the 3 ways listed above, make sure you have CD's as back up that you just put back and only use those in case of a emergency. Just remember to label the CD's so you can find your ebooks fairly easy.
The good thing about owning a store on Ebay is that you can open a store with very little money. I have so many people say to me that Ebay is so expensive to sell on and they are worried about the cost. At this time of my writing, Stores are only $15.95 a month. I know that we blow money on eating out one time that is the same amount you would spend on a Ebay store. Yes, there are added fees when you list a item and when you sell it but I still make money on my sales. I also make sure that when my account reaches $10.00, I pay it and do not let it get higher than that amount. $10.00 is such a easy amount to handle. I have a friend who pays her bill once a month and she is usually squealing when the bill comes in. Never let your bill accumulate to a huge amount. Not too many people are able to pay a large bill. My friend spends her earnings as soon as it comes in and the money is nice but when you are first starting out, NEVER spend your money. At first you will be reinvesting it until your business takes off. Just remember that it takes a while for people to locate your business. If you are setting a time limit of a month or two and then plan on quitting, then don't ever start because it takes a long time to build this business. You need to have a attitude of I am not going to quit no matter what. It does take a little money to keep it going so do not give up once you start. It is VERY important to run auctions to keep your business going. Ebay has it set up that you won't be seen unless you have some auctions and even if your auctions don't sell, people do find your store that way and they will come in your store and buy from you if you list auctions. I encourage you to look around my store and especially my homepage and see what I have written on my homepage. You will notice that I tell you that all my ebooks have resell rights with them in writing. If they don't have resell rights with them, then my listing will tell you there are no resell rights with them. People will keep coming back if you make sure that they have resell rights with them in writiing. They will trust you.
Also, it is important that you help others. I just had someone contact me the other day and she asked me how to burn a ebook to a CD. She was very appreciative. We are all in this together and people are going to remember the ones that helped them. Be kind and informative when someone asks you for help. I have heard many people say to me that when they contact a seller for help, they get the cold shoulder. Don't be like that. Make them feel special. I hear one thing over and over again and that is Ebay has reached it's limit and there is so much being sold on there. Nobody is making money anymore. Well, I am a christian and God is my provider and it doesn't matter how many people are selling on there, I am still having all my needs met. Do not get caught up in that game. There is enough for all of us.
Now, we are going to discuss supplies. I buy CD-ROM's on Ebay as they are cheaper on there. I then buy CD labels and link to where you can get the designs to place on your CD. Make sure you place your name of the ebook you just sold but also put the name of your Ebay store and the other places you are selling from and you will get free advertising that way. Next, I buy the square CD cardboard envelope to mail the CD in. I purchase shipping on Paypal if it is in the U. S. NEVER put the CD in a 44 cent envelope because the post office told me that anything that is not flexible can't go in a envelope and it will be either damaged in the mail or returned to you. It has to be sent parcel post. It cost me $1.58 right now to mail one. It weighs 2 oz. I get a question about using free shipping and I am told I don't make much but when your sales increase, then your earnings will increase. Just be patient
When you list your ebooks, make sure you use the insert box at the top of your description box and when it drops down, you will see a ebay store link and that needs to be in your description because it means that more people will sign up for your newsletter. I learned this from a very smart ebook seller. He said that the store logo on ebay will not work as well as a store link in your description box. Remember that, it is very important that you do this one thing. Once you get even one person to sign up for your newsletter, make sure you send out a marketing email once a week to your newsletter signups and let them know what new items you have. Make sure you add 10 new items in your store each week. If not, they will get bored with you and go someplace else to buy. Keep your store interesting. Make them think you are the smartest best seller on Ebay. Be creative.
I hope this has helped. I want you to know that if you need help to get started, contact me. I like helping new people. I have two ebay stores and I am just starting this one and I want you to watch me grow.
