Transform Your Bath into an Oasis

However large or small your bath, you can transform it into your own personal oasis by making small changes in each of the following areas.  None of these changes require much expense or work ~ only a bit of advance planning before your bath.

Organization:  Make sure your bath items are out and within easy reach before getting into the bath.  A bathtub caddy is a good investment for keeping bathing essentials within easy reach at all times.  For more storage, a bath tote can be stocked with extra bath items and brought out at bath times.

Comfort:  A bath pillow is an inexpensive but luxurious item for your bath comfort.  Likewise, a chair brought in close by your tub provides a place to relax and continue your pampering in comfort after your bath is finished.

Warmth: No matter how beautiful your bathroom might be, it is difficult to fully enjoy your bath if the air is not warm enough for comfort.  Turn up the room temperature if needed, and get your softest and fluffiest towels and bathrobe ready for when you finish.

Light:  Something magical happens when soft light and water meets.  The most ordinary of bathrooms becomes an enchanted place when lit by candles.  Candlelight reflects softly on the taps and tiles and twinkles on the surface of the water.

Scent:  Choosing the right scent is important in setting the mood for your perfect bath.  Try to ensure that the fragrances from your candles, bathing gel and body lotion all harmonize.  Scent is the most underrated of all the senses, with our sense of smell being central to all pleasure.

Sound: What better time to listen to a favorite piece of music then when enjoying the relaxation of scented water and candlelight.  Or perhaps, the sound of silence during your bath is a welcome change from your usual environment.

Touch: The sensation of warm water against the skin, feather light sea sponges, silky soft towels and lightly scented body lotion smoothed on damp skin are some of the simple tactile pleasures of the perfect bath.

Taste: Indulge in a glass of wine or ice-water with lemon during or after your bath.   Also, a treat of chocolate or fresh fruit is an extra indulgence.  There is no need for bath time to be spartan or tedious.
