Choosing the right skirt is very important. The hemline should never stop at the widest part of your leg, which is usually the calf. Instead, skirts need to fall right above the knee or below the calf, which features the slimmest portion of your leg.
If you choose a skirt with an especially full style, it would be best worn ankle length. Slits in skirts can be especially flattering when placed on the side. This creates fluid movement when walking and makes for a comfortable wear. But be careful with front or back slits, which can be difficult to walk in and are generally unflattering... unless you have amazing legs. Stay away from pencil skirts, which are only flattering to super-skinny figures because they accentuate the hips.
Finally, if you’re trying to disguise large hips or a large chest, A-line skirts and dresses are best suited for you since they hide the hips altogether and balance out your top, putting the focus on the waist and lower leg.
