Here's a simple rundown on what to keep in mind if you're new to eBay. To begin with, if you are going to sell on eBay, do it from an account that is seperate from the one you do your buying or shopping on. There are numerous reasons for this, and to list them would defeat the purpose of this guide. So there it is, just do it.
Now then, as far as shopping and bargain hunting, or finding specific things that you are looking for, or just plain old browsing. Always be aware of whether or not the "Search titles & descriptions" check box is checked or not. This is because you are literally telling the eBay search engine whether or not it should look in the titles and descriptions of each of the items listed on eBay, or just the titles. It is also something that IS NOT located on the front page of eBay. You have to actually go one level deep into the categories before the "Search titles & descriptions" check box becomes available. This makes a huge difference in your search results, as you'll see.
Also, when looking through lists of items, keep in mind all the various ways that you can manipulate the information you are looking at, and how you can modify it to be more convenient to view, or so that it relates to what is most important to you. These functions are located on the left side of your browser when looking at lists of items on eBay.
Lastly, and most importantly, always check the seller's feedback. Make sure you look specifically at the "Feedback From Buyers". That is the feedback that matters to you when you are buying.
You want to know that other buyers have had good experiences when buying from the seller. If not, then don't do it. Simple.
Well that about sums up the important stuff. The rest will just come, in time. Have fun, and be very careful.
