Basic Tools of Alignment Part 1 GROUNDING

I have worked with people and their energy for almost 20 years. One of the most pervasive issues is being disconnected from the natural flow around us. The feeling of being "off", spacey, lightheaded, or even too grounded and feeling heavy, sluggish and tired. Both of these are signs of not being aligned with the natural flow of the energy around us and that should be flowing freely through us.
Many of my clients are fellow energyworkers, lightworkers and bodyworkers. Being able to ground, center and protect has been a valuable tool I have helped them add to their work. Many of them experienced fatigue after a few clients and their own energy systems were not holding a vibrant energy charge. Applying these simple techniques made a huge difference in their work and their energy.

You do not have to be a healer or psychic to benefit from grounding. Children can greatly be helped by using this technique. I taught me daughter this years ago when she was 9. I noticed that her attention and focus dramatically improved. One of the great side effects of using these tools was you really understood where your energy ends and other peoples energy begins. Her being a early Crystal child and my son being an Indigo child, this helped them get a hold of their picking up on others energies and thoughts.

These tools provide anyone with a useful foundation for life, balance, and peace.

In these Tools of Alignment I will break them down into parts for ease of understanding. Part 1 focuses on Grounding. Once you get this fundamental technique down, all of the rest will come easily.

Grounding is a way of connecting or reconnecting your energy in alignment with the Earth’s energy to keep you solidly rooted and balanced. In electricity a grounding cord has a way of grounding out excessive energy surges, and viewing your grounding connection in this manner certainly provides a way of letting go of any energy you don't need any more. Your grounding connection allows you to release extra energy, to dispose of any unwanted energy you have picked up and a way to replenish your own personal energies. Many people like to think of their grounding connection as their "roots". Like a root system, your grounding connection stabilizes you like an anchor, creating a foundation so whatever happens in the world around you, you aren't carried away. Plants also use roots to gather the moisture and nutrients they need from the soil; I will teach you how to pull in the nurturing energy from the Earth through your grounding connection or roots.

Being grounded helps you stay solidly in your body and replenished at your core. When you are strongly connected with the Earth, you are more aware of the sensations and energy flows in your own body and all the details of the world around you. This is the aligning part of your connection. You are more connected to the world around you and notice things more intuitively.

Once you learn how to ground, you will want to use this tool consistently in your everyday life. When you start to feel upset, stressed, disconnected, worried, angry, or any other feeling that erodes your peace; get your body grounded and aligned with this Earth energy. You will start to feel calm, in control and even empowered. Then you will most likely bring a greater degree of clarity about your situation.

So, here is a meditation that may help you learn how this alignment feels:

Getting Relaxed:
Sit in a chair with your feet flat against the floor. Or sit on the floor. Let your spine be straight and comfortable. If you want to lean against the back of the chair or wall, do so. Take a moment to complete any small readjustments to make yourself perfectly comfortable, and close your eyes.

Let your attention come to your breathing. No need to change your breathing in any way, just become aware of it. Be aware of the slight pause before you breathe out. Breathe in (Pause) and out. Be aware of the muscles that work as you draw in the air, and how they relax as you let the air out easily and effortlessly. Gradually your breathing becomes deeper and more even as you relax into it. Breathe in relaxation, and let any concerns that you don't need to pay attention to now sweep away with your out-breath. In, relaxing; and out, releasing. Enjoy this rhythm for a few moments. Take as much time as you need.

As you breathe deeper and deeper, let your breathing feel like it is sinking lower and lower in your body. Let in sink to your legs. Let is sink to connection to the floor as you breathe out.  Let some intangible part of you sink deeper and deeper through the floor. Imagine this part of you connecting with the ground and then with the next breathe out through the Earths crust. Even if it doesn't sound rational, why not pretend for a minute that it can happen and just allow it to happen. Go easily and effortlessly. Breathing deep, through this connection right down into the earth, and then push that air out, into the soil. Let the connection grow further and deeper. Feel the nourishing energy of the soil. Imagining your connection is like the roots of a wise majestic tree deep into the soil.

Go down as far as you feel comfortable going. Feel that part of your being that you have extended deep into the earth and enjoy it. You can release any energy into the Earth through this connection and the Earths energy can travel to you through this connection. Ask the Earth to send you love, peace, whatever you seek and let it flow up through your grounding connection. Let in flow into your body and through your whole being. Know that this flow is always there for you whenever you ask for it. As abundant and free flowing as the air we breathe, so too is this aligning energy. You can't take more than your share because the supply is infinite. Let it fill your whole being. Let your being shine.

Once you have felt this feeling, you can make the connection more quickly by focusing on your breathing to bring yourself into your body, and then extending your grounding connection through the floor and deep into the Earth.
There are many things that can remind us of this grounding energy:

Stones: (Ebay is a great place for deals)
  • Nebula stone grounds without feeling heavy
  • Any red, black or brown stone including agates, jaspers, obsidian, tourmaline, tigers eye and onyx in these colors.
  • Hematite (can feel too heavy for some)
Walking bare foot especially in grass.

Sing or hum the deepest note you can. Feel it vibrate deep in your belly and pelvis. Imagine the sound extending deep into the earth.

Sit against or hug a tree. Pet a cat or dog. You get the idea.

Starting and ending your day with this tool can make a dramatic improvement in your energy. The more you practice it, the easier it becomes. You can get to the point that you can call all these tools into your mind at once and feel them immediately.
