Ebay has changed the Baseball Card world. The Beckett Price Guide was used by collectors for years in determining value changes and current market conditions. The Vintage Market was static for years, showing very minor price swings. But since the appearance of Ebay the market is on fire. Now may not be the time to pull your collection out of the closet and sell it for top dollar but at least we have a resource to access millions of potential buyers with the click of a button. The Glory Days of Baseball Card Shops are over. Very few still operate in the Mideast and the few that are left owe a great deal of their success as well as there downfall to the arrival of Ebay. If you are in the market to buy cards, slow down. Don't buy the first card you see in the search results. You have to equally weigh the factors that will help make your purchase a positive transaction for both buyer and seller. Check the sellers feedback, make sure they are reputable and know what they are talking about. Go to there feedback page and see comments other buyers have said about the sellers performance, also see if the seller has any experience selling cards. If they do not have experience chances are you cannot guarantee the card will arrive in the condition the seller stated it to be in. The biggest problem with buying cards on Ebay is you hope to get a card in the condition is was stated to be in. Everyone has different opinions on whats Near Mint (NRMT) and whats Very Good (VG). If you have doubts in a cards condition, ask the seller for a high-res scan or photo. Use your internet browsers view tool and use the magnifying glass to get an up-close view. Don't forget to vote.
