This bedroom was inspired by Audrey Hepburn's dress from the Ascot race in My Fair Lady. The bed is the centerpiece of the room. It started as part of a playset from KB Toys. Typical Barbie pink with a canopy. I got rid of the canopy, painted it black (spray paint works best, pay a little extra to get paint designed just for plastic) and capped the posts off with red beads. I then worked on the bedding. The bed skirt is pleated and glued piece of black and white striped fabric. I then cut a piece of foam (the kind used to make chair pads) and covered that with white fabric. The bedding itself is a piece of toile back with red satin. There is batting between the fabric, but it is very hard to get this to lay properly in such a small scale so I figured out a trick -- tie the corners down to make it "boxy." Then it lays just perfectly.
Wallpaper is scrap booking paper. Wood floor is contact paper.
The sitting area is fun. The vanity is a piece from Bratz. The black leather sofa -- I got this at Kiddyland toy store in Tokyo. I've never seen it anywhere else. I just went to Tokyo again and bought the matching sofa. Of course, the room is peppered with pictures of Audrey.

Here is the same room with some different accessories. The lamp is actually a vintage Christmas ornament I got on Ebay.
