Complete title of book is: BAGS OF STYLE 25 patchwork purses, totes, and bags. Author: Ellen Kharade. ISBN: 0-7394-5047-6.  It has 128 pages in this 8 1/2 X 11 inch book. First published in the United States in 2005 by Creative Arts & Crafts, an imprint of Creative Homeowner, Upper Saddle River, NJ. This book was also published in London in 2005 by Cico Books Ltd. Book was copyrighted in 2004 by Ellen  Kharade, Emma Hardy, and Hilary More.  The rights of Ellen Kharade to be identified as author of this text has been asserted by her in accordance with the Copyright, Design and Pattents Act of 1988.

TO QUILT OR NOT TO QUILT, YOUR CHOICE.....Although this book has instructions for making patchwork items, the instructions could also apply to making the purses, totes and bags without doing the quilt work by following the instructions and leaving those steps out.

So, one might say that this book has a dual purpose.  The book does have a section that teaches one the simple techniques to design ones own  patchwork item that is listed in this book. It is instructional.  It's for a crafy person. It's for one who would like the challenge of making their own purse, tote or bag, with or without the quilting techniques for the first time ever.

The book is loaded with diagrams, photos and even has a section with templates in it, which can be reporduced and enlarged for making ones own patterns and guides for making their own purses, totes and bags in 25 different styles which includes 6 formal bags, 7 shoppers & totes, 7 gift bags (which includes a cosmetic bag), and 5 evening bags.

TO SUM IT UP: I thought enough of this book to buy it for our craft club library plus a few extra copies. I've been making tote bags and the like for many years and believe that this book is very helpful for others, both amateur and experienced sewers. I've been using a sewing machine myself for a little over 50 years for making clothes and for crafting purposes during those years, so, I sort of know what I'm talking about one might say...
