Bad Seller practices, Our experience with such...

We purchase a Sony Laserdisc player from seller DARLENEF about 10 weeks ago from the date of this writing, and the experience exhibited several of the bad practices that inconsiderate and unscrupulous ebay sellers have, and also is a good example on paying attention to feedback.

Either the shipper dropped the box or this seller did not pack the item well enough to avoid it getting damaged, and consequently the player arrived inoperable.  We contacted the seller but got no reply for several days, bad service!  Finally the seller contacted us after we stated we'd make a report about not getting a reply.  Initially, we were told to pay to return the package and the seller would file a claim, and also give us a refund when they got the item back.  That's all fine EXCEPT the shipper would never honor a claim UNLESS they actually picked up the item themselves, and not if we just returned it on our own, not to mention the return cost would have been about $30.

This really showed ignorance on the part of the seller, who should have known better since they are a "power seller".  We had to submit a Paypal dispute which finally convinced the seller to have the shippers pick up the item for return and damage claim, which they did.  The item was returned to the seller in about 5 days, and you'd think a refund would have been forthcoming, but of course NOT!

This seller then completely IGNORED our messages and calls to try to get this resolved, again very bad customer service.  It became obvious that the whole idea on the part of the seller was to never issue a refund, and to hope we would not pay the cost of a return.  But the Paypal dispute forced the seller to get the item picked up, and then the seller's objective became to stonewall the refund and hope that somehow Paypal would decide that they could not collect a refund from the seller for us, or at the very least, hang on to our money as long as possible. All the time they ignored our messages, and continuing to sell on ebay.

Finally, after several calls to Paypal, the claim was decided in our favor and Paypal forced a refund from this bad seller.  We then left the appropriate negative feedback, and OF COURSE the unscrupulous seller retaliated with an undeserved negative, though we paid on time and kept up our end of the transaction.

This is a very good example of several of the BAD SELLER PRACTICES that ruin the ebay experience for buyers and for the very many good sellers that exist.  We should have paid more attention to this seller's feedback, for it is indicative of several instances similar to our experience

Update:  Seller appears to have been removed from Ebay.
