Some quick tips to buying authentic vintage advertising, prints and posters on ebay.

IS VINTAGE VINTAGE?

When bidding on any "Vintage" items be sure you are purchasing an authentic original vintage item and not a new reprint or some other kind of reproduction. Here are some suggestions to help you avoid accidently buying a reproduction and what you can do if you have been scammed by a dishonest seller.

CHECK THE LISTING:

To avoid accidently buying a modern reprint or reproduction, you should always check the listing category and read the entire description to be sure the item listed is an original vintage print. (Reproductions are common in the vintage poster and print categories.) Original vintage prints and ad's are much more valuable and harder to find. Note: all our vintage ads are "original vintage items" and "guaranteed genuine" and  "not reproductions" - Check for similar statements in listings for vintage prints or posters to be sure you are buying real vintage paper. Modern reprinted items generally will include "reprint" "reproduction" or "new" in the listing, but not always...

DISHONEST SELLERS:

Some sellers will deliberately try to hide the fact that their item is a reproduction or simply not disclose this information at all. If in doubt, ask the seller for more details and read some of the sellers feedback. An honest seller should have at least 98% positive feedback.

RECEIVED A REPRODUCTION?

If you received a reproduction and feel that the item description was misleading - It's not too late to do something about it. You can file an Item Not Received report (you paid for and received an item, but it was significantly different from the item description) This will open a dispute and gives the seller a chance to offer a refund. If you feel the seller is intentionally misleading buyers by not disclosing the fact they are selling reproductions you may also want to consider giving them a negative feedback to alert potential buyers.
