Sadly, you cannot, just based on description alone.
-Research on eBay under completed sales to see if what you are bidding on is within the range you want to pay.
- If it's a rare, unique, or antique item, seek out other resources to see if eBay offerings are comparable.
-Examine if there are enough pictures to clarify what you are looking for. If not -- contact seller for additional pics/info
- Look at all possible sellers of your item of choice; not just feedback (FB) received, but also feedback given for buyers. It's better to look at FB left for others, rather than FB received. Are they negative? rude? unprofessional? If so, find a different seller, as they probably won't help you if you have a problem.
-Check out seller Term of Service (TOS) . This will tell you when they ship, payment accepted, etc. However, if their TOS counteracts eBay/PayPal terms, it basically means nothing. That is, if they do not adhere to eBay/PayPal.....and your item arrives late, broken, not as described, etc., you have an excellent claim.
-Does seller ship with delivery confirmation so you can track your purchase? With a USPS account (which is free to sign up with, it only costs 18 CENTS for this option.
-Does potential seller respond within 24 hours of your question?
- Does your potential seller post rude, racist, sexist, etc., comments on eBay boards? ( you can search under user ID) Avoid this seller....as they do not realize they are running a business and personal comments are not useful, but damaging.
-the majority of eBay sellers are honest, and make a living on selling on this site. The .001% of people that are turds and take advantage of eBay buyers are the exception--not the rule.
-also, do NOT respond to emails that are not in your eBay account; it's yet another scam. Either delete it, or report it to spoof@ebay.com
