DSR Ratings are NOT Anonymous!
ebay says that STAR RATINGS are Anonymous - but Sellers can often tell immediately how a Buyer rates his/her stars
Let's say a seller has 4.9 ratings on all 4 stars for a week, or longer. Then one buyer posts a positive feedback and rates all seller's stars and they all go down to 4.6. It is obvious that the buyer gave the seller low scores on his/her stars because star ratings went down drastically. The buyer has seriously hurt the seller with low ball star ratings even though the feedback is positive.
Why does this happen? Is it fair?
When you, as buyer, post positive feedback for a seller yet rate the sellers' stars negatively you may be acting unfairly as a hypocrite. Why not contact the seller first with any concerns before you destroy his/her reputation?
Perhaps the buyer was satisfied with the transaction (which is obvious by posting positive feedback), but, also, had some reservations about it. Rather than giving the seller low star ratings - why not email the seller first? Give the seller a chance to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Since communication on ebay is vital - buyers should tell sellers about any problems they have had with the transaction before they rate the seller's stars in negative ways. Give your seller the chance to make your ebay experience completely positive.
