I am a new buyer/seller to Ebay, but I shop at other online sites regularly. I recently purchased a wholesale lot of DVDs. The seller only accepted Money Orders. The day after my auction closed, I rushed to the post office, purchased a money order, and mailed it to the seller. Six days later, there was a note to the order saying that payment had been received. Three weeks went by and I didn't receive any e-mails or notifications from the seller. So I started e-mailing to find out what was going on. I sent the seller three e-mails, at least one was through Ebay. After getting no response, I started feeling like I had been scammed. I filed a dispute, and two days later I got a message saying that I needed to be patient. After nearly two months and no merchandise, I received a message from the seller, he stated that I had provided him with the wrong address. I relooked at the winning auction message sent by Ebay and my address was correct. I looked at the address the seller claimed he had sent my items to, and the last number was off. I realized that the seller had made a mistake. At first I felt relieved, because I thought, this could be fixed. But I continued reading the message, the seller informed me that I had two options. The first was to drop my dispute and provide good feedback and the merchandise would be shipped to me. Or, I could go and pick the items up myself. I chose to go pick the items up. The seller provided a tracking number, the location of the post office, and details to pick up my shipment. I printed the information and proceeded to the post office. After driving 160 miles, I found out that the tracking information was false, and the details he provided for the post office were false as well. I realized that this seller had completely lied. He never sent my order. I immediately gave bad feedback and I tried to file a claim with ebay. But, I had no buyer protection. The auction for the item was a penny. The shipping and insurance was almost $50.00. I could only claim the penny for the item, and under Ebay rules, the item must be at least $25.00. Several days later, the seller gave me bad feedback. Of course he lied and said payment was late and there was poor communication on my part. I have yet to receive my merchandise and it appears that there is nothing I can do about it. Personally, I will never pay any seller on this site with anything other then Paypal or a credit card. Had I used paypal or a credit card, I wouldn't be writing this guide, I would already have my money back due to none receipt of merchandise. And, when I pay with a credit card, I will ensure that I use a shop card, that way no seller has my information. Please learn from my mistakes. I didn't read all of the information Ebay provides on payment methods. I am still in dispute with the seller because I have not received my merchandise. A couple of days ago, I got a note from the seller. The seller claimed that if I agreed to mutually withdraw my feedback, he would send me 10 extra DVDs along with my original order. I told the seller I would agree to mutually withdraw my feedback, but I must receive my order first. Again, learn from my mistake. Protect yourself by reading and understanding Ebay's policies.
