Alright, I've seen many, many people here saying they are selling Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games that are already loaded with all 493 Pokemon, including Arceus, Darkrai, and Shaymin.  Not only that, but they are all shiny, level 100, and are 100% LEGIT!!!  Wow!  Seems like a great deal doesn't it?

Wrong.  Don't believe any of this.  You are being ripped off.

I've used action replays, gamesharks, and other cheat devices in the past and I can tell you now that it is all too easy to alter these Pokemon to however you want them to be.  You can make them level 100 by entering either a Rare Candy x999 code, or by using one of the many Wild Encounter codes.  You can make Shiny Pokemon appear whenever you want by entering a special code, and usually Shiny Pokemon are hard to obtain, as you have a slim chance (and I do mean slim) of finding one in the game without a code.  Just to clarify, Shiny Pokemon are ones that are different colours than normal, like the Red Gyrados you obtained in the old Gameboy Colour game, Pokemon Crystal.  It is especially difficult to find Shiny Legendaries.  They can take days, even weeks, to obtain and I doubt many people would give them up easily if theirs are legit, especially not for fast cash.

And of course, there's the Legendaries, in particular, Arceus, Darkrai, and Shaymin.  There is quite a lot of hype about many of these types of Pokemon, especially those three.  And how can there not be?  The Legendaries are powerful, one of a kind Pokemon that usually require some sort of unique method to encounter them.  In the case of Jirachi, for example, the Pokemon Colosseum Bonus Disc.  However, for some Legendaries, there are special events to go to (Nintendo Events) to obtain them.  These events can happen in many places around the world.

Darkrai's event already happened in Japan when the 10th Pokemon movie, "The Rise of Darkrai" was released in theaters there, and unfortunately, the USA got the short end of the stick in that regard.  The movie was never released in theaters here, but recently, an event for Darkrai happened here in the US on May 31st-June 1st in all Toys R Us stores.  Another event for Darkrai also took place very recently in New York City.

What of Arceus and Shaymin?  How can I say for sure that not a single person selling these rare Pokemon is telling the truth?  The reason why I say that is because it's common knowledge in the Pokemon fanbase that neither Arceus nor Shaymin's events have happened yet.  Nintendo has not announced them in any way, shape, or form.  In short, there is no way to have a legit Arceus and Shaymin.  It is impossible right now.  The only way to get them in the games is to use a cheating device to trigger their events prematurely, or use the Walk Through Walls code to get to them.  Otherwise, forget it.  If you should come across anyone who says they're willing to sell you an Arceus or Shaymin that's 100% legit, rest assured everyone, that's a bold-faced lie.  Don't be lured in by that.  You'll wind up losing your money for a game that you or your kids could have easily hacked yourselves to get those Pokemon.  Anyone can do it.

And those who say that their Legendaries are "semi-legit"?  Yeah, whatever, it's still a hack.  Doesn't matter if all they did was cheat to get a certain item to make the Pokemon appear.  Either it's legit, or it's not.  There is no in-between.

Long story short, do your research.  The only way that you can be sure that you have a legit Pokemon is to:
1. Catch it yourself in the game.
2. Go to a Nintendo event.  You can find out when certain ones are coming up by going to the official Pokemon website.
3. Trading Pokemon with someone else, and even then, that's not always a sure thing.  Be sure you get pictures before you make the trade to be sure you aren't being ripped off.

Of course some people might not care too much about whether or not their Pokemon were obtained through an action replay.  However, I figure no one wants to wind up losing their money over fake Pokemon.
