Hi there fellow eBayer's 

This is Autostramsofwealth here hoping you find this guide helpful in regards to protecting yourself on ebay and paypal.

I had put up a compaq laptop up for auction a while back and had a buy it now bidder. I was very excited thinking great I just sold my old laptop!

Well that was exactly what I did  not do is sell my laptop. I recieved several emails where the buyer stated they needed the laptop asap for a birthday gift for a client and have it shipped to Nigeria. This was the first thing that triggered to me that this could be a scam. Someone from Ohio shipping a used laptop to Nigeria for a gift just sounded kinda strange. It also stated that as soon as I recieve the payment through paypal to make sure that I send the item right away. Well soon after that I recieved an email from what looked to be paypal but was really another domain name that looked just like paypal and it had a reciept stating that full payment had been made and the funds would be released upon approval of the laptop. I have never heard of such a thing so I logged into my paypal account from another web browser and fond no paymnt of the sort. I then new for sure this was a scam. I proceeded to get many emails from this fake paypal account that stated there would be severe legal action taken if I did not send the product ASAP!   Now I do not know about you but I dont think a multi billion dollar company is going to state you need to ship ASAP or we wll take severe legal action. After recieving about 7 of those email I was also getting emails from the  buyer harrasing me for the laptop to get shipped. Finally I got a message from ebay saying that there account was suspended and the transaction would be removed. I just wanted to share this story because I believe this to be a major underlying problem out there right now. It can be very exciting to sell a product and during the excitement mistakes can be made and over look the obvious behaviors of such scammers. I wanted to tell my story so I can help raise the awareness level out there and save some fellow ebay friends from being taken advantage of and keep his ebay community a safe ebay community.
