A NUMBER OF [HIGH END] RAZOR CUT SIGNATURE'S IN TRADING CARDS on EBAY ARE FAKE...READ ON

I will preface this by saying that I consider myself an average sports & non-sports trading card collector. Occasionally, I will spend a lot of money on a single cut signature trading card. With the recent release of the uber-high end Razor Oval Office Presidential Cut Signature Edition, I was tempted to drop the $2500K+ plus for the single card hobby box - thank GOD I didn't - here's what's happening.

Fake Signatures

It has been discovered, over the last couple weeks (first and second weeks of March, 2009), that two Razor Presidential Cut Signatures are FAKE.

That's right, fake.

In particular, it has been established that the Razor Richard Nixon Presidential Cut signature shown here, is a commonly seen Nixon Autopen signature.

You will also notice on this site, authored by a VERY reputable dealer/collector, that it has been established that this

2008 Oval Office Razor Presidential Cut of Martin Van Buren
 is a secretarial signature. That's right, another fake



The author of the aforementioned website contacted the owner of Razor Trading Cards, Brian Grey, and informed him of the serious problem, and gave him the references of several other authenticators to contact, who said they are not genuine as well. After a few calls Brian got back to the author of this article to let them know he contacted the eBay auction winners to let them know he will replace the cards with authentic signatures. HE ADMITTED THEY WERE FAKE!

This revelation swings wide open, the doors to other companies like Upper Deck that are guilty of the same thing. Look at this card:

An Upper Deck Dwight D Eisenhower Cut Signature - that is, you guessed it 

FAKE:



And yet another Upper Deck Card supposedly of great rifle maker Eliphalet Remington



Notice the 'S' before the Remington?...It's his SON'S signature! Samuel Remington. What kind of clowns do they have working at Upper Deck anyway? Who is working Quality Control there?

 Upper Deck, and Razor (probably others) are purchasing these cut signatures, in bulk  - from the same small handful of smarmy, underhanded autograph dealers who are most probably in bed with the major 3rd. Part Authenticators like PNA/DNA. Remember, all of these signatures were purchased from the companies with the assumption they had already been vetted by companies like PSA. the paperwork was there to prove it. In other words, the autograph dealers, when selling these autopen signatures, and secretarial signatures, had already sent them to PSA for authentication....amazing.

What is the moral of the 'guide'? I have just purchased my last cut signature from a trading card company period. What a joke. Once again, please read the article that I link to in this guide. INCREDIBLY informative.
