Just by clicking on my GUIDE I have already learned that you are a BEARY Special person! WELCOME!
The first thing you need to know about Boyds Bears is that NO ONE is TOO OLD for a HUG! Bears made us feel special when we were a child and we still have that inner child within us. Bears make us laugh and smile. What could be wrong with that?
HISTORY of BOYDS BEARS - The Boyds Collection Ltd. began as a small antique shop in rural Boyds, Maryland in 1979. They have become one of the most popular teddy bear companies. They continue to make adorable plush and resin items which are loved by all who receive them. Boyds Bears products are loved by Young and Old alike.
COLLECTING - This is simple - Always purchase items you love. If they become a collectible later on then that is great.
BOYDS BEARS PRODUCTS - Besides wonderful products for every day gift giving, Boyds has wonderful Holiday/Seasonal items that also make great decorator items in your home! Here is just a sample
CARE and CLEANING your Boyds Bears -
- Spot cleaning with a damp cloth is a great way to spiff up your critters! (While you are at it, a tummy rub for your bear might be nice too!)
- Running the vacuum over their fur (use the uplostry attachment silly) will fluff their fur. (Warning: this massage might send your bear off to sleep. If he starts snoring, just poke his belly!) You can also shake your bears now and then to fluff them up. (They really don't mind this method.)
- Unless your bear is marked machine washable (like most Baby Boyds products) please DON'T throw your bear in the laundry! All that spinning makes them dizzy!
And last BUT NOT LEAST ... make sure you give your bear a daily dose of big, loving bear hugs. But watch out, they might just hug you back!

LOST BEAR ALERT!
I am trying to help a customer identify the name of a bear pictured below. He lives in a Beary good home but his owner would like to be able to call him by his name. If you know his name or other info, I would appreciate an email so I can help his owner. If you need help identifying a bear, please send me a picture and I will try to help you also. THANKS

Your bear is a rare bear named Nellie. There was a newer bear also named Nellie which is completely different than your Nellie. Your bear should measure at about 14 inches. She doesn't even show up on the Boyds website. However, I have an old 2001 price guide which showed her value at $48 in 2001 (if she had all her tags.) Without the paper tag, she would bring less but I am not sure.
She originally sold for $20 in 1995 (the year she was introduced). She was retired in 1997.
