BUYER BEWARE OF BOGUS GIFT CARDS UP AT AUCTION
During this Holiday Season (2007) and through out the year buyers should beware of the many bogus gift cards/certificates that are flooding the Internet at various auction sites, not just here at eBay. These bogus gift cards appear to be from the various retails stores on the gift cards, but they are a scam. Please check-out any gift card you intend to bid on to make sure it is authentic. Don't get scammed! Don't bid on and buy gift cards unless you can verify they are the real deal!
- The buyer should check out the company/contact company and the persons who is selling the gift card.
- Read Sellers Feedback and read the description of the item very carefully and the return policy.
- Locate and contact the retail company and check to see if the gift card is valid, before you bid and buy it! There should be a valid ID number or serial number/security code on the gift card to validate it with the company to find out if it was purchased with an approved credit card and not a reported stolen credit card. Copy the security code and contact the company and see if and how much value the gift card has.
- If the seller is unwilling to give you or post the valid identification numbers or serial number/security code on the gift card or certificate to have it verified, PASS on it.
- If there is an expiration date on the card it should also be disclosed by the seller.
- Is the gift card a copy or the real hard copy. Pass on copies, they are worthless.
- PASS ON ANY GIFT CARDS OR GIFT CERTIFICATES that you are unable to verify their authenticity chances are they are bogus.
Scammer print hundreds of thousands of these bogus gift cards and have charge them back to stolen credit cards. The retail store will not honor these bogus cards/certificates and you will be out whatever you paid for them.
