INSTRUCTIONS FOR HATCH REPLACEMENT

Thunder Marine is the 11th largest boat dealer in the US, and we stock most of the common sizes of hatches for most all boats.  We will gladly ship items via UPS or US Postal to most all locations worldwide.  Hatches can also be picked up at our retail location - 4701 95th St North, St Petersburg, Florida.

The first requirement is to determine the correct size of the replacement hatch - we will exchange hatches if you accidently order the wrong one, but with a little research we can usually get it right the first time.  The two measurements that are critical are:

CUTOUT SIZE - this is the hole in the boat without any hatch installed

OPENING - this is the hole size created by the finished and installed hatch

These are the best way to determine correct size, and we can use either one - outer flange size, etc., are not accurate measurements as the hatch designs have changed several times, and are different from one brand hatch to another.  The hatches we sell can be used to replace most other brands - Bomar, Pompanette, Grey, etc. - and the hatches we supply are original equipment on many boats.

The most popular size hatch on the market is the 19x19, followed closely by 16x16.  18.5x18.5, 10x10 and 20 round make up the balance, and these six sizes will fit 95% of all boat applications.  We stock all these sizes, and most are available with white or black frames, and the white frame is available with smoked glass (referred to as bronze) or white frosted.  Note that the glass is tinted - smoke color - it doesn't have a gold tint.

Note that the sizes are names only - there is nothing on a 19x19 hatch that measures exactly 19 inches.
