Quick guide on how to remove BMW instrument clusters.

Models covered:

• 1997 to 2003 BMW 5 Series (e39) : 525 528 530 540 M5 (e39)
• 1997 to 2001 7 Series (e38): 740 750
• 2001 to 2006 x5 Series (e53) : x5

Tools needed:

• Torx #10 Screw Driver
• Phillips #2 Screw Driver
• Flat Head Screw Driver

General Removal Process:

1. Find a place to Park Your Car for a few days.
2. Move the steering wheel down and out and out of the way.
3. Pry off the wood grain plates on either side of the steering wheel to expose the lower bezel screws.
4. Remove the Phillips screws from the bottom of the bezel and the Torx screws from the top.
5. Detach the right side wires and move bezel out of the way.
6. Remove the Torx screws from the top of the cluster.
7. Pull the instrument cluster forward to get access to the wiring on the back.
8. Unplug the three wiring harnesses from the cluster and remove it from the dash.
9. Pack it up and send the cluster to us for repair
