22 months ago I purchased a Samsung Refrigerator along with a 3 year extended warranty through Warrantech Companies. I love the refrigerator, but will NEVER again purchase a service plan or anything remotely connected to Warrantech Companies. Three days ago my refrigerator temperature started varying from 38 degrees to 60 degrees. I called Warrantech and reached an answering service. They took my name and number and I was told I would receive a call back shortly. 24 hours later, after no call, I called again. I told the person the problem and gave them the information on my warranty card at which time I was informed there was no information in the computer. They told me to fax them the information I had (receipt and warranty card) and they would enter it into the computer and call me back. I immediately faxed them the information and after not receiving a call back after two hours, I made another call to them. This time I was told that is takes at least 3 days for them to enter the information into the computer. I let them know that 3 days was unacceptable at which time I was asked to hold. When the person returned, I was informed that she had spoken with a supervisor and was authorized to expedite the data entry and she would be connecting me to Juan and I was to leave a voicemail message advising him of this. I left the message and again waited for 2 hours before calling again. I reached the same person and asked when I would be hearing from someone. She asked if I could hold which I did and after 10 minutes returned to inform me that it would be 2 days. I reminded her that it was to be expedited and she told me that 2 days was expediting the data entry, normally, it would be a minumum of 3 days. She told me I could have the refrigerator fixed and they would reimburse me at which time I informed her that the warranty contract specifically states that Warrantech will not reimburse the consumer if they have an item repaired without Warrantech authorization and that I would not do so unless they fax or send me something in writing. The service representative then told me she would send an email to her manager and I would be hearing back from them. It has now been 3 days, I have NO refrigerator, I have no idea how long I will have to wait for a repairman to make a service call AFTER the data is entered into the computer. I just finished reading several blogs about Warrantech with the majority of them being similar stories to mine. At this point I am going to have my refrigerator repaired, learn from this costly lesson and the next time I am offered an extended warranty or service plan I will save the money. When I purchased the service plan, I was not advised that it would take numerous phone calls, long periods of time on hold and an indefinite period of time waiting to have something repaired.
