PLEASE READ!  THIS WILL BE WELL WORTHWHILE!
HI ALL, THERE ARE THREE MAIN REASONS WHY I'M WRITING THIS GUIDE:

1. Most importantly, I want to save you and every buyer from the stress, headache, and money this problem has caused me.
2. There are some guides on BEBE out there that are useful, but they are missing some details and pictures that I have right here.
3. Hopefully this will help make Ebay a safer place to trade.

So Please vote on my guide...the more votes I get, the more visible my guide will be.  My goal is to spread this message to as many people as I can!

 WHAT HAPPENED?

I purchased many items from Ebay and recently I received 2 fake BEBE items and I am not happy about it.  I am still working on getting my money back and it is a pain in the neck!  Sellers who sold the fake items to me insist that I will not get the shipping charges back, which includes the shipping I paid for the item to be shipped to me and the shipping I will be spending to return the item.  It is understandable if I changed my mind or if it is my fault in anyway, but it is another story if the seller sold me fake items.  On top of everything, the sellers are liars to being with!  There’s no guarantee I’ll get my refund!  The victim shouldn’t be paying all the expensive shipping charges while risking the sellers not refunding the money anyways!

The sellers knowingly sold me counterfeits, and they are ruthless.  One of them has the nerve to respond to me saying and I quote “If you read my item description there is nothing on it that described the item as original or authentic. It said New with tag. The description is not misleading if you take your time reading it before bidding.”  My goodness, the nerve the seller has!  Ripping people off and justifying it.  Here, I want to save you headache and stress, so you don’t fall into the same trap I did!

LET'S CUT TO THE CHASE, WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR?

   1. Feedback: I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to read other’s feedback.  However, that alone will not save you as these sellers will threaten to ruin your feedback if you leave them a negative one.
   2. Pictures, pictures, pictures!  Look real carefully at the pictures.  The bigger the better.  Look at the brand labels and the price tags.  If you own the real things, compare them!  I have two examples below.  If they don’t have a picture or the picture is small or unclear, ask for more pictures!
   3. I know it can be painful, but read the description real carefully!  Find odd information!  Like the second example below, it said the original price is $64(please read below to find out why it is a red flag).  If the seller claim the shirt is bought from a certain location, you should verify the location through the official website or call their customer service.  By asking the customer service representative, you will be able to find out current and previous locations.  This prevents sellers from telling you the store was closed and they bought when it was still there.  One of the sellers told me the top was bought from the Calgary BEBE store in Canada, the store is supposedly located in a mall called Chinook.  (Please Note: The seller sold me the top during spring/summer 2007 when the store isn't even there until Fall 2007...how could you sell something you bought from a store that wasn't there?) At first I didn’t think anything, but it is a great piece of information.  I looked up locations in Canada on BEBE’s website, I didn’t find one that is located in Calgary.  When I called the customer representative, they told me they never have a store in Calgary.  Then the seller tried to back it up with another fake piece of information.  The seller told me the store is located in a mall called Chinook.  My goodness how I love the internet.  I was able to find the mall’s official website!  Guess what, no BEBE store listed under the directory.  So location can be a valuable piece of information.
   4. Be extra careful if you’re looking at an unusual piece, especially a piece that no other sellers have.  This is the trap I fell into.  I saw a special piece that no one else has thought I found a one of a kind.  Wrong!  The seller claimed that piece was from a collection called exotica…geez what a sexy name for a collection.  It is only until I found out from the company that they never had or have a collection called exotica.  So be very careful with an unfamiliar piece.
   5. When in doubt, always ask!  Ask the seller about the item, contact other sellers who are welling to help (you can contact me if you want), go to Ebay and Paypal’s help section!
   6. Be extra careful when buying the BEBE rhinestone logo tops...I was just browsing through and saw that most of them are counterfeits.  If you have questions about this, just Email me and I'll give you a few pointers on it!

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU FELL INTO THE TRAP?

   1. Contact the seller about the problem and see what they have to say.
   2. You should demand them to give you a full refund (cost of the item, money you paid for the shipping initially, and the money you paid to for return shipping) as you are the victim.
   3. Report them to Ebay and file a dispute through PayPal or Ebay if necessary.  It does matter that you report them.  Ebay will take actions if people report these thieves.
   4. Write a guide and warn others about it…the more people know about this, the less of these sellers we should have to deal with.
   5. Still got more problems?  Contact me!  I’m willing to help!

HOW CAN YOU TELL FROM A REAL BEBE ITEM FROM A FAKE ONE?  WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES?
I apologize for the smallness of the pictures, but EBay do not let me link pictures from a different source and I have yet to figure a way to go around it.  But there are links at the bottom of this guide, click on it (or copy and paste it on the URL box) and you should see the bigger versions.  Pictures worth a thousand words, so here we go.

 Example 1

As you can see, two items, one fake (left) and one real (right).

BEBE is known for its’ quality, both items are made of cotton.  The one on the left is made with much harder, cheaper cotton that is uncomfortable to wear.  The one on the right is made of nicer cotton.  If you can see from this small picture (if not just go to the picture 2 link), the grain is much smaller on the right.

When you look at the brand label, it is crystal clear that it is not an authentic piece.  The thread and font are both different.  The font of the fake label is much smaller than the real one.  If you look at the bigger version, the label on the fake one is very poorly made and you can see loose threads coming out of it.

Example 2

Here we have two t-shirts, the fake one is on the left and the real one on the right.

It is a shame how small the picture is.  Again, you can find a bigger version of all the pictures from the links below. The fake BEBE shirt has a really cheap, white fabric tag under the brand label, which is a big red flag that the shirt is a counterfeit.  Then, when you compare the prices tags, there are 5 things wrong with it.  First, the fake tag does not have the tear lines like the real ones.  (if you bought a BEBE shirt before, you will notice you can easily tare the tags into 3 sections because there are 2 tear lines).  Second, the description reads T-shirt on the fake one.  Real BEBE shirt would have a more descriptive description like this one "SS stripe WD NK W/RS".  Third, it says “one size” on the price tag when it says S/CH on the white fabric tag underneath the brand label. (Another thing with the S/CH: it is a big no-no for it to read S/CH as no BEBE top is sized with Hispanic, however, their care labels are in English, Spanish, and French.) Forth, the price tag reads $64 dollars, but BEBE has different price levels.  Their more expensive items usually end in 9...so usually it is a $69, not $64.  Moreover, $64 is too expensive for their signature rhinestone tees, which are usually around $30-40.  Fifth, the price tag on the fake item says Jan 06 when the real one doesn't have a date on it.

LASTLY:
Thank you for reading my guide and you should find it useful.  Be careful when you shop.  If you should have any question, just contact me.  We should all help each other to make Ebay a better place to trade!

Links to the pictures-
I wanted to have the picture links here, but Ebay won't let me.  If you want the bigger pictures, just email me.  I apologize for the inconvenience.

PLEASE GIVE ME A VOTE ON THIS GUIDE!!!  THANK YOU!!!
