Well, winter's fast approaching. I thought that Abercrombie would introduce a completely new jacket line, but unfortunately they have only added to last year's line. Jackets that were sold last year, such as the Adirondack, are still being sold in stores. And the fake ones are still lurking on ebay. They are so hard to distinguish weather they are fake or not, but most on ebay are fake. So, WATCH OUT! They look completely real, with the same tags, same wrapping, same purposely crooked stitching. BE CAREFUL! I've purchased two of these jackets with doubts of their authenticity. So, I went to A&F to make sure. A side by side comparison shows minor details that make the fake jackets different from the real ones:
From the beginning when you open the box containing your ebay-bought A&F Adirondack jacket, you will spot these things to tell you it's a fake:
-The jacket smells like cardboard or some odd material. (Real ones have a soft smell, because of their stone wash)
-The tag is glossy, not a matte cardboard like the real ones. And, the print on the fake tags rubs off.
-The stitching is thick on the Abercrombie logo on the back of the logo. It is also dark, unlike the light brown of the real logo patches.
-The stitching looks like it was purposely made to be crooked to make for a vintage look, but the real jackets do not have this stitching style.
-The wool on the inside of the jacket does not feel as soft or as thick as it should be, and there should be a color difference between the real and fake one.
So, check out the jackets at the store first. Make sure you dont buy from sellers located at major ports of entry (NJ, NY, even CA). Sellers from China or other countries are definitely carrying fake A&F jackets. Be aware. These jackets are going for alot. Not to mention they will keep getting more and more expensive as winter approaches. It's better to just buy from the stores.
