First off I am not trying to throw rocks at any sellers in particular..I am just attempting to help would be purchasers to make more informed decisions...and not do like I did ..buy what I really did not want..Yes I got caught up in this MEGO DOLL LOOK ALIKE THING!!  So..That's why I'm writing this.........

I am writing this to warn any would be mego doll buyers to please read descriptions on ebay items carefully.  There are many imposters out there, especially in the DOLL world.  One of the many imposters is put out by a an INDIA toy company, Classic TV Toys,  putting out cheap mego Doll look a likes and reproductions!! They have no where near the detailing or construction of the originals and they are touted to be multi jointed..24 points of articulation= watch out!!

Amongst the dolls to be particularly careful about are any of the western ones,...WILD BILL HICKOCK, BUFFALO BILL CODY, SITTING BULL , WYAT EARP, COCHISE, and DAVEY CROCKETT.  A brown and yellow box with a wood print is very similar  but I have seen some dealers using these dolls with the older boxes ...hard to detect in this instance unless you know all the details of the exact original.......Mego never made some of these characters, of this I am sure..  Another Note: clothing also cheaply made. None of the fne detailing known in the genuine MEGOS

The 8 inch Megos are particularly popular with the BREYER horse crowd now as the originals are unsurpassed for detail and sit their horses well..This crowd is also particularly at risk of being "duped" so to speak..because they may not be as knowledgable on megos as the hard core Mego doll collectors are..

Toy dealers are listing these with the headings MEGO and misleading descriptions which are tricky to read..You may think you are getting a GENIUNE MEGO but you are actually getting one of these CHEAP and poorly made imposters.

Be sure to ask questions and CAREFULLY read your item description.  Pictures can also be misleading..Dealers can actually make a item LOOK much better than the actual product appears.

I will add that some of the dealers DO say right up front that these are reproductions and that is all fine and good as long as the customer knows and is OK with it...

Good luck again and Cautious ebaying!!!!!!!!!!
